Porta Fortuna made her US debut this past weekend in the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. "She showed a lot of determination to rally on the inside to finish 2nd in the G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She just couldn't quite get to the winner, losing by a neck" said Medallion's racing manager Phillip Shelton.
Not only was this her first time running in the states, but it was also the first time she has ever ran a race with turns and her longest race to date. Factors that seemed to be an afterthought for Porta as she took the track that afternoon. She was the opitome of class as she circled the paddock and headed to the track" said Molly Hyer, Partnerships Brand Coordinator. "You would have never known she was in a new country about to run against the top two-year-old turf fillies in the World!"
Porta is now back in Ireland for some well-deserved R&R. We feel incredibly blessed to own this amazing filly that has so much talent and determination and couldn't have had the year we did without trainer Donnacha O'brien. " It is a huge testament to Donnacha and his whole team, for keeping this filly in great form all year," said Phillip. "She broke her maiden in April, and danced every dance for the last 7 months, which is an unbelievable training job."
Although Porta is done racing for the year, the excitement is not over! In just 3 days we will learn if our rockstar is named the "Cartier Racings Two-Year-Old Filly of the year! Winners of the 33rd Cartier awards will be announced at a ceremony in the Dorchester Hotel on November 9.
“An easy one for us. It is attending the Medallion organized events. We’ve been able to connect with great people who love horse racing, like we do, at some incredible venues like Del Mar, Curragh, Keeneland & Saratoga! We have had such amazing experience, that we wouldn’t have been able to have without Taylor Made Partnership."
"Being part of Medallion is a wonderful experience. We get to connect with the top equine athletes in the sport and access to experience the greatest events such as Breeders Cup or Royal Ascot. The most important part to us is the relationships we have made with Medallion team and Taylor Made and really do view them as “family”.
"Sue and I appreciated your hospitality Thursday at Keeneland. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and enjoyed meeting everyone. Taylor Made and Medallion made us feel like part of the family and everything about the day was great - especially the winner’s circle. Hopefully there’ll be more wins to come."
